§1 About
Hi, I’m Tawsif.
I’m a backend engineer based in Amsterdam. I’ve been building software since 2012, starting with web and mobile applications in Dhaka and moving, over the years, to distributed backend services in Berlin, Eindhoven and Amsterdam.
I’ve worked at startups, scale-ups and enterprises, including Polarsteps, Mollie, Sendcloud, HelloFresh and Pathao. Along the way I’ve been an individual contributor, a tech lead and an engineering manager.
Most of my work sits around event-driven architecture, domain-driven design and hexagonal services. I reach for the outbox pattern and event sourcing when the problem calls for them, and I try hard to keep systems boring to operate. Pragmatic solutions and incremental delivery beat clever rewrites.
Outside work I build open-source developer tools, write about architecture and Nix, and keep a soft spot for Elixir, which I’ve championed since 2017 and spoken about at several conferences.
